Upload and Registration User Guide

Upload and Registration User Guide

A guide that helps users upload and register media to a Content Delivery Network account dashboard.

Upload videos

Learn how to upload or register your content to your CTR account.

Adding your videos to your CTR library allows you to manage those videos in one location:

  • Sharing your videos on social media channels
  • Adding videos to playlists
  • Recommending videos to increase viewer loyalty
  • Inserting contextually relevant videos into articles
  • Monetizing your videos through advertising
  • Analyzing and optimize video performance

The following sections explain how you can upload or register your videos. You can also use an MRSS feed to upload and register your videos to your account.

If you are a developer or have developer resources, you can use the Management API to upload and register videos to your account.

Upload a video

If you have a video on your computer that has a duration of at least 2 seconds, use the following steps to upload that video to your media library.

  1. Use the Video Preparation reference to prepare your videos.
  2. From your CTR dashboard Media Library, click Add Media > Video or Audio Upload. The upload page appears.
  3. Select a video from your computer. You can either drag and drop the file from your computer to the page or click select a file and choose a video from your computer.
  4. After the video has been uploaded, click Exit.

Now that your video has been uploaded, you can add metadata to the video.

Register videos

If each of your videos has a unique URL, you can register your videos instead of manually uploading each video from your computer.

Videos uploaded to your CTR dashboard are automatically registered.

Use the following steps to register your videos:

  1. Use the Video Preparation reference to prepare your videos.
  2. From your CTR dashboard Media Library, click Add Media > Video or Audio from URL. The Upload from URL panel appears.
  3. Enter the URLs for your videos in the text field, one URL per line. You can add a maximum of 100 URLs at a time.
  4. Choose how to if the content should be hosted with CTR:
    • Yes, host and register this media. (Recommended) This option uploads and registers each video to your account. You can share, edit (including video length, captions, metadata), recommend, monetize, and analyze each video.
    • No, don’t host media on import. This option only registers each video with your account. You can share, edit only video metadata, recommend, and analyze each video. This option limits access to various data products and features. Use this option when adding videos with embedded captions to your library. Videos using this option are not subject to monthly storage or streaming limits.
  5. Click Add URLs. The Media Library page appears while each video is uploaded and processed.
  6. While the video uploads or is registered, click the name of a video to add the video metadata.
