Hello, human (I’m assuming). I’m the eponymous Dan Lauer, writer, artist, and middling guitar player. Here, you will find links to all of my creative endeavors. Will you like any of it? Will you buy any of it? Will you tell your friends about any of it? Well, we’ll get to be surprised together, won’t we? Take a look around. We close at 9.

Writing

Substack

I regularly publish both fiction and nonfiction, with topics ranging from unsolved mysteries, misunderstood history, true crime, personal essays, and other generally bizarre shit.

Medium

I publish the same essays, articles, and fiction as I do on Substack on Medium as well. If you prefer to read on Medium, you can. Here:

Post Meridiem (Memoir)

Post Meridiem is my unreliable memoir of events that occurred in Los Angeles County between June and September 2009. From the bewildering cast of a state-run psychiatric hospital to the horrific exhibits of the Museum of the Morbid, Dan Lauer searches for comfort and solace from a severe depression-driven psychotic break from reality in all the wrong places.

Art

Just Look

If you just want to use your eyes I have published my collected artwork here. It features sketches, acrylic on canvas, and mixed media.

Purchase Originals or Prints

If you want to hold it in your hands, you can accomplish that here. I sell prints and originals.

Audio

The Platform

“The Platform is an audioplay adaptation of the French short film “La Jetee.” I wrote the translation, performed and edited it personally.

Mayhem

Mayhem is a weekly sci-fi comedy podcast that documents the aftermath of an extraterrestrial subjugation of Earth and the efforts of the Artileans (the subjugating force) to convince Earthlings that they are better off for it. Human host Landon Harker does his best to pitch the upside of the horrors of subjugation through news, human interest stories, trivia, history, and thinly veiled threats and warnings.

All Hail Artilea!
